Resolved Question: Of recent QB's selected in the draft, who do you think will bust and who will be a success?

Format is: Name (Rd. - Pk. - Ovr.): Team...BUST / SUCCESS / DEBATABLE... Explanation 2010 DRAFT Sam Bradford (1 - 1 - 1): St. Louis Rams... BUST... The offense Bradford had at Oklahoma was really incredible. Jermaine Gresham, Manuel Johnson, Brandon Caleb, and etc. really helped him out... His offensive scheme was also pretty wacky... Without the all stars on offense, I think he may be exposed. The Rams also based their decision based on a combine where he wasn't getting rushed at all. Their mediocre O Line may make him afraid of the pocket. Tim Tebow (1 - 25 - 25): Denver Broncos... BUST... I don't see Tebow working out as a QB. He is already injured, and seems almost TOO athletic to be used as a QB. I think he will be injured a lot before they try to have him change positions, which might or might not work. Jimmy Clauson (2 - 16 - 48): Carolina Panthers... SUCCESS... Jimmy Clauson was my #1 QB going into the 2010 draft. He didn't have that many great recievers (Golden Tate, but not much after him) but he made it work. He also had a pretty bad coaching department in terms of play calling. I think the Rams will end up kicking themselves over not picking Clausen with the #1 pick. Colt McCoy (3 - 20 - 85): Cleveland Browns... DEBATABLE... I don't see McCoy as a starting QB. I just don't. It may be his quick hand injury, but in watching the first couple of games he doesn't have the poise needed to control an NFL football team. That being said, he was selected in the 3rd round. 3rd rounders aren't usually expected to become pro bowlers. Sure, every now and then a Matt Schaub (the only current starting QB selected in the 3rd round) will slip by other teams, but normally (Charlie Frye, Josh McCown, Charlie Batch) they will be back ups. I think that will be the fate of Colt McCoy. 2009 NFL DRAFT Matthew Stafford (1 - 1 - 1): Detroit Lions... SUCCESS... This is a success thanks to the Lions orgainization. Stafford came in last year with tools but no foundation. He could throw the ball deep, could lead a team, and could do everything right... He just needed someone to be there to catch that pass, to be able to lead, and be able to win it with.... That's what the Lions did. They brought in Nate Burleson, Rob Sims, Tony Scheffler, Jahvid Best, and more for him to work with. They showed an obvius lean toward the offense side of the ball in order to make Matthew Stafford not turn into Joey Harrington. Mark Sanchez (1 - 5 - 5): New York Jets... BUST... I knew right when that magazine with Sanchez shirtless on it came out that he would be a bust. He was living up the money and fame, putting football in the back seat. Did Drew Brees do that? Did Tom Brady do that? Did Peyton Manning do that? It showed last year with 20 interceptions even though he had recievers of Braylon Edwards and Wallace Wright. Josh Freeman (1 - 17 - 17): Tampa Bay Buccaneers... BUST... A first rounder needs to be a starter. I don't see Freeman turning into a starter. He seems like a possible solid backup for a star, but not a solid number 1. Pat White (2 - 12 - 44): Miami Dolphins... BUST... Really he hasn't even competed with Henne or Thigpen as he was expected to. He may even be cut from the team when they reduse the rosters. Teams will be interested if that happens, but don't expect to hear much about him from now on out. 2008 NFL DRAFT Matt Ryan (1 - 3 - 3): Atlanta Falcons... SUCCESS... There isn't much doubt anymore, Ryan has been a success. Hitting 3,000 and nearly 3,000 yards in his first 2 seasons, Ryan seems like the real deal. Good thing for Falcon fans. Joe Flacco (1 - 18 - 18): Baltimore Ravens... SUCCESS... Considering he almost lead his team to the SuperBowl not once but twice, especially with average wide outs, I consider him pretty successful. Whatcha think? @ thatdude - If I hated him for throwing 20 interceptions, wouldn't I have made Stafford (20 INT in 10 G) a bust? I didn't even mention that Freeman had 18 INT's and I made him a bust! @Rex - I'm making predictions.... Read More »
